What qualifies me to use a mobility scooter?

You can only drive a mobility scooter if you have trouble walking due to injury, physical disability or medical condition, are training a disabled use, are taking the vehicle to or from maintenance or are test driving the vehicle before selling it.

Do you supply instructions on how to use the mobility scooter?

Upon collection or on delivery our uniformed technicians will provide you with a free scooter demonstration. Full user instructions are included with each mobility scooter hire. The instruction manual for the mobility scooter also will be left with you to refer to if necessary.

How do I order a mobility scooter hire?

You can book your mobility scooter hire online 24 hours a day 7 days a week by visiting our home page and selecting the type of mobility scooter you would like to hire.

Alternatively you can call our FREEPHONE 0800 120 1276 telephone number to book a mobility scooter hire or for advice on any aspects of our service. Our telephone lines are staffed from 9.00am to 5.00pm – Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays).

No payment is required at the time of booking as we take payment on delivery by debit\credit card, bank transfer or cash. If you are booking online, you simply fill in your details, choose a delivery date and press submit. Once your booking has been received, we will contact you to confirm your booking and collection or delivery date.

Can I book a mobility scooter hire at short notice?

Yes, we can normally delivery our mobility scooters within 24-48 hours of a booking. It is always advised you book in advance in order to obtain the particular mobility scooter model you want. You can make an advance booking online or by phone to reserve a specific delivery date.

What if I want to extend the hire period?

If you would like to extend the hire period of your mobility scooter, we would greatly appreciate you letting us know as soon as possible. Our mobility scooter is very popular and we have limited availability and an indication that you wish to extend the mobility scooter hire period would help us avoid disappointing any pending mobility scooter hire customers.

What do you require from me in order to hire the mobility scooter?

To hire a mobility scooter from Coco Mobility you must be:
Over the age of 18. Our delivery staff will ask you to provide photo identification to prove that you are over 18 years of age.
Supply two forms of ID (one with photo identification and another with your home address. For example, a driving licence or passport and a utility bill or other form of identification that has your name and home address.
We will also require your mobile telephone number in order to contact you prior to delivery and collection.

Which areas do you deliver your mobility scooters to?

We deliver to all villages, town and cities in the following areas: South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire, East Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Greater Manchester and North East Lincolnshire.

How do I pay for my mobility scooter hire?

You can pay either by debit\credit card, bank transfer or cash. On delivery we require the amount for the mobility scooter hire period and if delivered the delivery and collection costs. If you decide to extend your mobility scooter hire period, we can take the payment over the phone by credit\debit card or by bank transfer.

Can I collect the mobility scooter from you?

Yes you can make a booking online or by phone and then collect the mobility scooter directly from our store. Please make sure that your booking has been confirmed and that you have been given a time and date to collect the mobility scooter.

Can you deliver to an airport?

Yes, we can deliver to Leeds Bradford or Manchester Airports - we meet in arrivals or departures to hand over your mobility scooter.

Can we take a mobility scooter overseas?

Yes, our foldable mobility scooters may be taken anywhere in the world. Most airlines will carry the mobility scooter for you free of charge but it is best to check with the airline and provide details of the mobility scooter than you are hiring.

What are your delivery charges?

You can collect your mobility scooter directly from our store in Sheffield or we can deliver directly to your home, hotel, Airbnb or holiday destination. Once a mobility scooter hire has been booked, we will provide you with a specific day and time for either the collection or the delivery. In the case of deliveries our delivery drivers will also ring or text you approximately 30 minutes prior to arriving. The delivery and collection charges are detailed at the bottom of each mobility scooter hire page. The charges vary depending upon your location from our store in Sheffield.

Will the equipment you offer, run all day on a single battery charge?

That will depend on a number of factors including the number of miles you ride, the type of terrain and the weight of the rider. An average guest covers around 6 miles in a day and all our mobility scooters, will easily manage an average day’s usage. This is assuming you charge the batteries fully the night before.

What should I do if it starts to rain while operating the scooter?

Our scooters are water resistant. But should it begin to rain heavily it is recommended that you seek cover immediately. Apart from anything else it’s not very comfortable to drive a mobility scooter or sit in heavy rain getting wet! We can provide you with a rain cover for the mobility scooter if it is going to be left outside to prevent the mobility scooter being wet before use and this also protects the mobility scooter from any possible water damage.

How do I complete the mobility scooter agreement and VAT exemption form?

On collection or delivery we will bring the mobility scooter hire agreement and also a VAT exemption form. If you qualify for VAT exemption then you will not be charged VAT on the mobility scooter hire. If you are chronically sick or have a disabling condition this form must be completed in order to qualify for a zero-rated supply of the mobility scooter. Please not the VAT exemption is not applicable on the delivery and collection charges.

What if I want to cancel my mobility scooter hire?

If it is prior to collection or delivery, you can simply call us to let us know that you no longer require the mobility scooter hire. If during the hire period you wish to cancel the hire and either return to us or have us collect the mobility scooter then again, please contact us as soon as possible. Please note if a mobility scooter hire is cancelled early, we cannot refund any hire payments already made.

Insurance

We do not offer insurance; however, your home or travel insurance policy may offer you cover. Alternatively, you can contact mobility scooter insurance companies online

What happens if the mobility scooter should develop a fault?

All our mobility scooters are fully checked and tested prior to delivery so it would be very rare for one of our mobility scooters to develop a fault, however you can rest assured that if anything should go wrong our engineers will aim to rectify any faulty within 24 hours or supply you with a replacement mobility scooter.
